How Do I Search for Subcontractors?

CrewFinder makes it easy to find subcontractors and service providers for your project. No account required; just search and browse.

Search by Service and Location

The most powerful way to find the right contractor on CrewFinder is the service search. Use the Find by Service page to search by the specific type of work you need, filtered to the region where you need it done.

Step 1: Choose a service

Start typing the service or trade you're looking for - for example, "pipeline welding", "hydrovac", "NDT inspection", or "earthwork". A dropdown will show matching service categories. Select the one that best fits your need. You can also click Browse All to see every service category available on CrewFinder.

Step 2: Set your location

Enter the city, state/province, or country where you need a contractor. You can enter as much or as little as you know:

• City + region (e.g., "Fort McMurray, AB") for the most targeted results
• State or province only (e.g., "Alberta" or "TX") to see all contractors in that region
• Country only (e.g., "United States") to browse nationwide

Step 3: Review your results

Search results show contractor profiles that match your service and location. Each result card shows:

• Company name and logo
• Primary service category
• City and region
• Verification badge (if claimed)
• Compliance/certification count (e.g., ISN, COR, OSHA)

Results can be viewed as a list or switched to a map view to see contractor locations geographically.

Refining your search

You can search for a more specific service by typing a keyword alongside your service selection - for example, selecting "Pipeline Construction" as the service and adding the keyword "sour gas" to narrow further. You can also change your location and re-search at any time.

Using the search bar

The search bar on the CrewFinder homepage is the fastest way to find contractors. You can search by:

• Company name: search for a specific company you've heard of
• Trade or service: search for what you need (e.g., "hydrovac", "crane services", "pipeline welding")
• Location: search for contractors near a specific city or region

Browsing by sector

The homepage also features a sector browser. Click on a sector (e.g., Oil & Gas, Heavy Construction) to see all companies listed in that category. This is useful when you want to explore what's available rather than searching for something specific.

Using the map

The interactive map on the homepage shows contractors geographically. Zoom into your project area to see which companies are nearby. Click on a marker to view the company's profile.

Evaluating a company

Once you find a company, their profile page shows you everything you need to make a decision:

• Services and trades they offer
• Locations and service radius
• Safety certifications (ISN, COR, OSHA, etc.)
• Client references and testimonials
• Contact information
• Active job postings (which can indicate current capacity)

No account needed

You don't need to create an account or sign in to search the directory, view company profiles, or access contact information. CrewFinder is fully open.
